Get Creative: Make Your Own Accessories!

Chevron Cars Display GarageGracie and Grandmother Alyce sent us some great photos today. "The cars need gas....so we made our own pumps," they wrote. The Chevron gas pumps they made come complete with filler hoses, gas price and the Chevron logos (click on the photo to see a larger version).

Chevron Cars Display GarageGracie has her new Chevron gas pumps and her Chevron Cars set up on a little town layout. You can see Sally School Bus, Patty Patrol, Horace and Trailer, the Baby Cars and many other great Chevron Cars.

Excellent job on the photos and the gas pumps -- you have a great collection!

Chevron actually has a play mat for your cars, It has roads and such on one side and Autopia on the other. I bought mine when it came out at chevron for 19.99 I have it hanging behind my cars on their shelf, My husband thinks I m crazy but the kids love em. SO up it went with the cars. I never thought of making gas pumps for them we just use pax powers gas can.
That is very creative.

Yeah Gracie! Where did you get the roads? I'd love to set one up like that!

The "roads" are a carpet we found at Home Depot 2 weeks ago for $19! Great fun!

Great idea! Has anyone else done any other projects for their cars like towns? We'd love to see them.

Gracie, Where did you get the roads that it's all set up on?

The pumps are made from wood blocks and painted white. The "hoses" are large black pipe cleaners....there's a hook on the side of the pump to hold the nozzle. Nozzles were made with silver Sculpey clay. Chevron logos were enlargements made on a color copier. The gas tank price & gallon were made on Mac computer.

Gracie also created a car wash using spray bottles filled with soap and clean water. The long dangling scrubbers that you see in a big car wash were made for the Chevron cars by duct taping yarn to a plastic ruler. Blower was a battery-operated fan.

Her cars have their own "car blanket" that looks like a car and sleep in their own cabinet. For travel they go in a suitcase that is shaped like a big red car.

Thanks!
