Chevron Debuts New Toy Car and Redesigns Website to Celebrate 10 Years of the Chevron Cars Toys

Car CollectionSAN RAMON, Calif., Nov. 22, 2006 -- Chevron U.S.A. Inc. this month released the newest addition to the Chevron Cars® family, Brent Blizzard, in time for the holiday season. A red, rugged, snow-covered 4x4 equipped with a snowboard on the roof rack, Brent Blizzard, currently showcased at the San Francisco Auto Show through Nov. 26, is available for a suggested retail price of $7.99 at select Chevron® gasoline retail locations or by visiting www.ChevronCars.com.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Chevron Toy Car program, which along with the Chevron Cars Web site are critical components of Chevron's World of Cars campaign created in 1995 to launch Chevron with Techron. In 1996 the first three Chevron Toy Cars – Tony Turbo, Wendy Wagon and Sam Sedan – rolled off the assembly line and more than 2 million toy cars were sold. Since then, more than 16 million collectible toy cars have been sold (including limited edition and breast cancer awareness cars).

ChevronCars WebsiteTo commemorate the 10-year milestone, Chevron is also announcing the official redesign of the award-winning Chevron Cars Web site with interactive Flash applications, new games and an updated look and feel. The newly redesigned Web site features the popular Chevron Cars blog, where fans and collectors can share ideas, collections and photos and learn insider news about Chevron toy cars and games. The site also offers free online games, a toy store where the cars can be purchased, as well as a variety of ways to explore the humor and fun of the Chevron Cars, including biographies and photo galleries of the cars, downloadable stickers and coloring pages, screensavers, desktop wallpaper, and musical tunes.

"Thanks to the Chevron World of Cars campaign, our ongoing message that Chevron with Techron is synonymous with clean, reliable and quality fuels has continued to be reinforced in the hearts and minds of our consumers," said Shariq Yosufzai, president of Chevron Global Marketing. "The Chevron Cars are a symbol of Techron, the key ingredient that differentiates Chevron gasolines from others in the marketplace."

"Consumers tend to think all gasoline is the same, but it's actually not," said Glenn Weckerlin, global director of Brand and Product Line Management for Chevron Global Marketing. "The Chevron World of Cars campaign was conceived to explain the importance of fuel quality – from a car's point of view – in a way that is fun and recognizable. The overarching premise of the campaign is very simple – who knows more about what a car wants or needs than a car? – and it's paid off. Independent research shows over time 'fuel performance,' not price, is most often the number one reason customers purchase Chevron gasoline."

The launch of Chevron's World of Cars campaign, created by Young & Rubicam and Aardman Animations, helped introduce consumers to Techron®, the company's specially patented additive found in all grades of Chevron gasoline. Techron allows consumers to help clean up, and keep clean, their car's vital engine parts, including intake valves and fuel injectors. This is important because engine combustion chamber deposits can cause knocking or loss of power during acceleration and higher emissions.

"The ads did more than promote the new gasoline additive – they transformed the face of the Chevron brand," said Weckerlin. "Recent research shows that Chevron ads are top of mind with consumers four times more than other gasoline brands. We can attribute much of this success to the engaging and likeable attributes of the Chevron Cars."

Chevron gasolines with the Techron additive were the first in the United States and Canada to be designated as meeting performance criteria set by automakers BMW, General Motors, Honda and Toyota for TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline. TOP TIER establishes criteria for detergency levels in gasoline significantly higher than those currently set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and these automobile manufacturers believe that TOP TIER gasolines result in better overall engine performance compared to other gasolines.

ChevronCars.com has been the recipient of numerous awards, including a BOTI (Best of the Internet) award for Most Innovative Site and an AdTech Award for Best Interactive Design within a year of its launch in 1997, and the prestigious Web Award for Best Toy & Hobby Web site in 2004. The Chevron Cars Web site has gained an audience far outside Chevron's traditional retail markets and, although a majority of the site's users are children, a substantial group of users includes adults who love the cars and often collect them.

I'm very disapointed that just because some of us live in remote areas we are pentalized. We do not have the chance to purchase any of the sports vans unless we bid on them on ebay. This makes our collections cost up to ten times or more higher than the cars cost originally. When will people in Idaho have the opportuinity to buy some cars that Californina can't buy? If someone would at least give a list of the stations that will be carring the new cars so we could at least call and order our next new car or van it would be deepley appreciated. Thank you Sandy

Dear Chevron: Make the Chevron Techroline Traylor
that is towed by the tanker.
Thanks Frank

We have been having trouble here finding the cars at the Chevron stations. I live in Birmingham, Al.
Does anyone know which stations carry these here? I have one grandson that loves them and has collected a lot of them. He is only six but has taken real good care to the ones that he has gotten.

I have a suggestion for your next release.

How about a Three Wheeled VW-Harley Trike for your next release. Call him MIKE the Trike.

I have built one. Boys & Girls, Moms & Dads gather when I roll into a parking lot. Not many of this type of vehicle around and mine is one of a kind, Satin Black with Yellow Flames. Be more than happy to send pictures for your prototype.(hee hee)

I have 59 cars in my collection (No GOLD Dusty, of Cource). Have obtained even the doubled boxed (Plastic Bubble and cardboard boxe cars) All of which are sealed and in perfect condition, They are all housed within 2 tempered, UV resistant glass/oak cabinets.

Im retired, 54, single, never had any children of my own. I'm my own child and boy am I spoild.

I am eagerlly awating the next ChevronCars release along with the October release of the next Breast Cancer Awareness car.

All right you guys lets get some new cars released!!!!!!!

I love your site!!!! My favorite Chevron Car character is Hank Hot Rod.

I agree with James. An ambulance would be good because they help people. You shouldn't get a sick feeling when you see one, you should feel happy because you know someone in need of help is getting it.

P.S. Patty Patrol was a good idea too for the same reason an ambulance would be. Also, VOTE YES ON AMBULENCE!!!!!

We have a grandson that is turning one at the end of January.

Are there any of the cars that are safe for a 1 year old, or are these great little cars for collectors only, and where are they still available?

That's it-I'm revealing myself. I have been going by many different names in my great trips to this blog. Here are a few-Ludacris, Mr. Big Shot, pops, a few anonymouses, Pierce, The One and Only, Mr. Chevron, and Hot Sauce. I do this so people will not have a bad reputation of me, and to make others think that many people don't want ambulances. If anybody else would like to say that they are going by any name that I just mentioned, please do. But don't do it as a joke. But the truth is, I'M THE ONLY PERSON WHO DOESN'T WANT CHEVRON TO MAKE AN AMBULANCE! Why I don't want one is a long story. Finally, my real name (And the only person in the entire world who has this name) is Pierson. (That is why I sometimes go by "The One and Only" Please don't laugh. If you find out that there is another Pierson in this world, let me know. I have 46 Chevron Cars.

My main man James,
Sorry about the earlier comment. It's just that I once was in an ambulance and every time I look at one I get horrible memories.

Since Techron is for BMW,GM,Honda, and Toyota veichels,I have a idea the reprsents them all, like:
Bent BMW,a X5(BMW's only SUV)
Greg GM,a 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV
Henry Honda,a Honda Ridgeline truck
and
Tony Toyota,a Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV

So,what do think,Chevron?

To "Anonymous",
I'm fuming mad at you! It would be great if chevron would make an ambulance! Personaly I don't care what
you think! The ambulance can be a limited edtion that is dedicated to
9/11/2001. And the funds could be donated to the victims AND the familys
of the surviving people who were there! It doesn't HAVE to have a sick
person in the back! Patty Patrol didn't make a bad image for Chevron!
I hate that you're critisizing a Chevron car! Let alone a Chevron car
released 9 days before I was born!
Shame on you! Chevron is bound to make
an ambulance some day! What with all
the comments that are posted suggessting one AND in 2003 there was
a poll on the website with 5 options.
One was an ambulance and all but 3 have been made. The names are Madie Mudster and Travis Tanker! Chevron makes the cars we want! Don't you
agree, Mikel? LOL. Who else wants an
ambulance? Who's with me!? Chevron?
Are you with me?

P.S. Remember to: SAY YES TO AMBULANCES! SAY YES TO AMBULANCES! SAY
YES TO AMBULANCES! SAY YES TO AMBULANCES! LOL. :)

  - Posted By: James on December 8, 2006

I am fuming mad at James right now. I hate the idea of an ambulance! Imagine a smiling vehicle with a seriously injured person in the back! I think that that is disgraceful. Trust me, Chevron, that would be bad for your image. The police car was bad enough.

P.S. Remember to "SAY NO TO AMBULANCES! SAY NO TO AMBULANCES! SAY NO TO AMBULANCES! SAY NO TO AMBULANCES! :)

  - Posted By: JUSTIN on December 6, 2006

To the Chavron cars co.,
10 years. Wow. I didn't think about it like that. Heh, I bet I will still
be collecting when you hit your 50th.
You're older than me! I mean, I'll be
10 in June, but you're older than me!
I was born in June 1997 just 9 days after your release of Patty Patrol and
Tyler Taxi. Hay, Shariq, are you in
charge of what cars Chevron makes? And
if so, PLEASE make them make an ambulance! PLEASE! PLEASE! I'm begging
you! PLEASE!
