Senior Citizen Chevron Cars Collectors, Sound Off!

Today we received an email from an avid Chevron Cars collector named Jim. He writes:

"I have been able to collect all issued cars since the beginning, that is except for the most treasured Gold One with only 1000 issued. I was in the bidding, but it got away. The question I have is there any "Old Guys and Gals" out there collecting these great cars? I will be turning 64 this year and have been collecting things all my life. Would like to see some Blogs from other "older" collectors."

Because we get to speak with a lot of the Chevron Cars customers, we know there are a lot of seniors who collect the cars. So let's hear from you here on the Chevron Cars blog, and let Jim know that he's not alone!

You can use the Comment form to submit your comments about your collections, your thoughts about the chevron cars, and more!

I absolutely love my Chevron cars! I am 62, and only have some, but I am working on collecting more. I have no children or grandchildren to pass them down to, but I like to just play with them myself. I even have cary car carrier, and two of the camping trailers. I have loved toy cars since I was a tiny little girl - to heck with dolls, I wanted cars, and I have not changed. These cars are just wonderful.

Robert from July 2007
There were 33 trucks in the metal Lledo
series. From 1999 to 2000 (labeled 2001
which had the biplane) The '99 was only
issued on the west coast as a test in three seperate boxes. In 1997 it was a reissue but all three came in a box.
I beleive the 1991 set was reissued at some point
I am looking for a picture which has all 33 if anyone knows where I can get it??

hello out there--I am a 63 yr old grandma and mama. I found your website only last year and was ecstatic that there were cars available and games too. My 3 year old grandson loves the games and tries to get me to open the boxes of my collection which are duplicates of the ones I sent to my other grandchildren. They all love them. I think it is the cutest car and fun for all ages. I too have the original die-cast models which I love. Most of my cars were collected on cross country trips, my husband thinks I'm silly but he enjoys the cars too. Hooray for Chevron Cars!!!!!

I am 80 years old and I originally started collecting Diecast Vehicles including the 31 Chevron from England. My grandchildren were only allowed to look not touch, so when Chevron "Big Eyes" as we call them came out my wife started purchasing them for the grandchildren and when I saw them I wanted to have the collection too. I now have them all except "Gold Dusty" and my wife had to buy other ones for the grandchildren.

I'm 66 years old. Been collecting Chevron cars for my grandchildren since 1996. Now, I collect for myself, until they come over and take them. Love all the cars especially Riley, Woody and the awareness cars.

Enjoy.

I just turned 60 years young on October 14 2007. I have been collecting the Chevron car collection since it's inseption. I have all 50 including limited and special edition cars. I will definitely be adding "Courage" to my collection. I will also try to include, finding all of the limited produced van's as well. I might add that not one of the Chevron Cars that, I own has ever been touched by human hands. All these years they are still in their original boxes. Thank you!!!!!

I've been collecting the Chevron cars for years. I'm 68 years old and my husband thinks I'm absolutely nuts. My son started my collection and he and my daughter-in-law add to it at Christmas and my birthday. They know how much I enjoy them and they don't have to rack their brains as to what to get me. I keep them informed when new cars come out. Hint! Hint!

Hi, I just read the Seniors comments. I am 60 years old and have been collecting the cars since day one also, I have had a complete collection except for the gold Dusty which you had to be "in" to get (which really frosts me - it shouldn't have even been mentioned if it was unattainable) until this month. I was not notified that there were 5 editions of the Victor E. Van. I only got the Oakland A's and now that I know there are 4 more of course, Chevron is sold out. My only hope now is to start going around to differnt Chevron stations in the area in the hopes that someone has the others in stock. So I've gone all these years collecting my heart out and now my collection will be incomplete unless Chevron offers this set again.

I guess you can tell that I am an avid collector. Keep my collection in their original packaging and with 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter I hope to pass these on to the one who will most enjoy them. My grandsons always get one each when I visit but they are still of the age that they want to open the package and play with them. So that is very cool that I get to see how they operate because I don't open mine.

Nice to know I am not the only "mature" kid who is a collector of these very special cars. My favorites are the hotrod, the caddy and the woody. Those I did but extras of so that I could take them out of the box so I could "play" with them.

Thanks for listening...I'll stay tuned for my interesting commens. Patsy

I'm almost as old as dirt according to my younger co-workers and I've been collecting since way back when and have all exceptDavey Driver, Dusty and Dusty Gold. I've started 2 of my grandsons on their collections and they both have in excess of 30. Two have been opened by others , but never played with and are kept on display. Right now we are waiting for Oct. 1 for the new breast cancer car.

My husband & I are both seniors (62). We have been collecting the Chevron cars since the very beginning. I believe that we have almost all of them. They are all in the original boxes. I would like to have a display case where they could all be displayed. We are always excited when a new car comes out. We will continue to collect the cars, hopefully for many years, as I am sure there are many new ideas to draw from. Keep the cars coming.

Talking about seniors and we are there at 60 and 65 we started collecting when our identical twin grandsons were born in 1995. Then we started getting the cars/trucks and all for ourselves and not them. Knowing one day they might have them all. Our collection is of most of them think we are missing the tanker and the "gold" ones that no one can find. Any way we have even got a sister into liking them and she has mainly the cancer ones especially the last one. Thanks for keeping them going and bringing some back even. Please come out with a 2007 now.

Hello bloggers, I will be 65 in about 3 weeks! I have all the cars including the Gold Limited Edition Gold Taylor Taxi and the Autopia Gold Dusty car which were both purchased on Ebay. My grandson will have quite a collection one day. The problem is how do you give a collection like this to a child who would probablynplay with the cars outside and crash them into each other? I'm thinking of getting a smaller back up collection for him to play with.

I'm 62 and began collecting after my Mother saw Tony Turbo at a Chevron station in New Jersey while visiting her brother. She knew I admired the commercials and would appreciate charming Tony.
The ads have always been wonderful. They get the message over without screaming at me or insulting my intelligence. And the charming car characters and gentle humor are endearing. I think a DVD of all the commercials would be a product to offer. I'm there for sure.
I moved into a smaller home, so no space yet to display, but I'm working on an idea for the ceiling of my guest room. That should end any guest's day with a smile! Nice to know there are many like me who appreciate these super little cars.

I will be 61 in September and I have every Chevron car produced to date. I just wished more cars would be produced. These cars will be passed on to my grandson.

Wow, what a following. I havn't figured out where I fit in yet. I use to work at the Chevron Oil Field Research Center. I am a very happy grandfather with a starter small collection of Chevron Cars. Besides some of the cars I have the a car carrier truck and some carboard garages. Life cannot get better. I enjoyed my work time at Chevron with so many friends and now doing something that ties my Chevron memories with my grand children, that being the Chevron Cars. That just proves that we really are "Kids at Heart". Love you Chevron.

I am a 60 year old (in a matter of days, my birthday is this month) who has been collecting the Chevron Cars since they first came out. I love each and every one of them and have shelves all around my upstairs bedroom to display them. They are still in the box and NOBODY is allowed to touch them---not even my grandchildren. So I am hoping a new one will come out before my birthday so my husband can give it to me as a gift. He does that quite often. Keep up the good work Chevron and try to get a tractor in the works also. I live on a farm and I love the farm implements.

I'm a 57 year-old Grandma and I envy AJ (who posted in January) for getting Travis Tanker for Christmas. I begged for him, but nobody would bite. I've been collecting Chevron cars for about 7 or 8 years and have most of the cars! I love them. I think there should be a Chevron Firetruck for sure!

I started in the beginning, May 1996 and have all of the cars except the one not available to general public, Gold Dusty, and Faith issued in Oct 04, I still can't understand how I missed it. And YES I have the Disney Autopia cars. Oh--I forgot to say that I'm 70

  - Posted By: Lois on June 16, 2007

I am 73, also a collector, got most of the cars, but finances ceased my purchasing for a while. Hope to get back in the game again. Didn't know there was a "gold" one. I enjoy the collection, got them on display in our front room.

HI, I AM A GOING ON 61 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHER AND GREATMOTHER AND I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING CHEVRON CARS SINCE THEY STARTED. I HAVE EVERY ONE OF THEM EXCEPT THE ELUSIVE "GOLD" DUSTY.

I WILL KEEP COLLECTING TILL THE LORD CALLS ME HOME THEN MY YOUNGEST GRANDSON WILL TAKE OVER.

GOOD TO HEAR FROM THE SENIOR COLLECTORS.

I am a 67 year old grandmother and yes, I too have a collection. I have been able to collect every one of the cars as well as my grandson. We have the autopia cars and like them because they complete our collections. Now each of us is always on the lookout for the new cars that come out. His mother helps him to find the new cars before I can. I got started because my grandson wanted me to take swimming lessons and collect Chevron cars, I told him I would pass on the swimming lessons but I would get the cars and so it goes on. We love them!!

I am a Chevron retiree ( age 70 ) and I
have collected them all. I love them
they are cute. I plan to leave them to
my grandson Taylor. I do not have gold
dusty. It would be great to have it join the fleet.

Hi! I'm Jeri 66 years old . Been collecting since the beginning. Love my cars. Have all but Gold Dusty. I also love the chevron animated commercials on tv. I wish I could collect those to watch at home whenever I want to.

Keep half of my full set on the mat in my living room floor so the grand daughters can play (the other half is in my business so they can play there also.
I'm 65+

Will there be any new cars to come soon?

Please let me know a Collector of your cars!

  - Posted By: Anonymous on March 16, 2007

I am 62 chronologically, but actually 12 going on 13. I have all the chevron cars except the Utopia series, which to me just aren't the real thing. They dont have any eyeballs, and have those dumb Disney characters in them. A total flop in my estimation.
All my cars are mounted on the walls of my cabin. When my grandchildren come to visit they are always intrigued. When adults see the cars looking back at them the expressions on their faces give me a good laugh.

Hi, All you Chevron Car Collectors. I have been collecting these cars the last 5 years. I made my boyfriend, Now my husband stop at every Chevron store from the keys to the mountains of North Georgia. Yea, I was surprised he married me after that. I now have all the cars. Even the Utopia ones. I love them all. All you guys and gals keep up the good work. Don't give up till you have every last one.

Hi Jim,

I'm going on 67 and have collected all the Chevron cars - except the Gold Dusty. I don't feel it's part of the Chevron Car collection because it was never made available to the public.

My cars have been purchased from Chevron's website, eBay and Chevron stations. All of my cars, display boxes included, are in mint condition and have never been opened. Some day my son will have them to pass on down. In the meantime, I'll just keep on collecting and enjoying them all.

Don

I also have complete collection EXCEPT for the 2000 Special Edition Autopia Gold Dusty. I am 73 yrs and am proud of my collection.

  - Posted By: Nancy H. on March 1, 2007

At 54, I'm a geezer-in-training, but that hasn't stopped me from assembling a collection of all the cars except the latest one (minus the Autopia cars - just not interested) and several other items like banners, buttons and the like. My wife aids and abets me; we collect cars during the year and give them to each other at Christmas. As they say, you have to get older, but you can stay immature indefinitely.

hi there collecters, 62 years young here. I thought I had all of the chevron cars that was made untell I came to this site. have never heard of the gold dusty. but like Kate I don't think the autopia cars really fit in with the happy face chevron family of cars. I do have the 4 autopia cars. my first car was rudy ragtop. got him when I say the commercial on t.v.

High old timers out there, my wife and I have been collecting Chevron cars since the begining. We are 59 and 57 years old. We began collecting because the cars are so cute. We bought our fist car at a Chevron station in Arizona while traveling. It used to be dificult because we live in Illinois, {No Chevron stations} but now you can order from this website. I have also used E-Bay very often and we have been sble to aquire all production cars and many doubles of most cars plus prototype samples. I was lucky enough to buy a gold Disney car on E-bay, complete with all packaging when they first arrived.

I think this was a great advertising tool for the Chevron company and hope they keep it going. Great Job

I'm 60 JIm and I've been collecting since they were first issued. I have all except a couple of the Hope cars and I didn't bother with the Autopia because they were so different and didn't really seem a part of the series.

I'm sure there are more of us as well.
