Victor E. Vans - What Do You Think?
As we approach the arrival of a new set of Victor E. Vans this fall, we thought we'd ask you what you think of these cars. How do they fit or not fit into your collections? Do you consider them equivalent to the other cars? Is any one of them your favorite car? Has it really been impossible to find one that you really wanted? What's your favorite lucky story about finding one?
Some issues can be addressed up front. We are very sorry about those cars not available on the site. This was due to contractual issues with the teams Chevron could not avoid. Despite the protests from some about this, others have been thrilled about finding cars celebrating their favorite sports teams. Many have also asked for cars to be made in the name of specific teams. There will in fact be 6 new team cars this year. It is a complex process to make a team car, however. Clearly the number of teams that will be involved will always be very limited. Many of you will be disappointed. For that, we sincerely apologize.
We welcome your thoughts and suggestions about these cars and what they might mean to you and fellow collectors.

I so want an LSU van and a UT one !!!
- Posted By: pake on August 23, 2008
I have the entire collection except the Dusty Gold. I hate the idea that my collection is incomplete and with the way the Dusty Golds were given out and how they sell on ebay for upwards of $1000.00 I know I can never afford that, so my collection will always be incomplete. This is what happens when you make the vans only available to a certain area. Since they are the same car with different decals, why not just make new cars? How about hero cars like a fire truck, police car, or ambulance? Something new is always better than a recycle of the same old van. Don't get me wrong I will be buying all of the new ones, but would like to see more creative colors and fun stuff too.

I think there not too bad. But, when they came out, I recived no notice of them, and when I went on the blog, they were already gone.
- Posted By: Travis on August 12, 2008
I agree with the prior posting. Love them. I really want the Univ of AZ ones to come out on the internet site again. PLEASE!

I have to disagree with the general consensus. I think the Victor E. Van concept is great. I have purchased 5 of the vans for my 5-year old son, and he just loves them! He now has vans for ASU, USC, UNLV, Hawaii and the Lakers. We live in the Phoenix area, so eventually we will be able to get the van for the Univ. of Arizona, but my son still needs the vans for the SF Giants and the A's. Maybe he'll get them for Christmas! The only other car he does not have is Gold Dusty. I think it's fun to look for the vans that are not easily found, especially when I find one and can get it for him. The smile on his face makes the extra effort that much more worth it! I am a lifelong SD Chargers fan, so that is definitely the next Victor I'd like to see, but I also would like to have the chance to get vans for: (baseball) Padres, Dodgers, Mets, Diamondbacks, Angels; (football) Cardinals, Rams, 49ers; (basketball) Clippers, Suns, 76ers, Knicks; (colleges) UCLA, California, TCU, San Diego State, New Mexico. Thanks for listening. Please keep producing more Victor E. Van cars. Not everyone hates them.
- Posted By: David on August 3, 2008
This seems to be an excuse for you guys not to go to the trouble of producing a new original car a couple of times a year. The same van, in different colors. If you are not a sports fan, boring. Chevron can do better than this.
- Posted By: Dutch on August 2, 2008
I can't believe there are more Victor E. Vans. Don't you think there were enough last year. I have collected Chevron Cars from the beginning, and each car has a special place in my heart because each one was an original idea. Also each one came with an owner's manual, which had a special story in it which gave each car its own personality. Real collectors will find a way to get them even though some fans find it difficult. It just makes it inconvenient. Please Chevron lets get back to our cute individual thought out ideas. Also, Victor E. Van does not come with an owner's manual and there are so many of them it seems like just a fast way to make money without an original thought. I mean all the cars look exactly the same.
- Posted By: Mandi on August 1, 2008
These look cute but I haven't decided yet whether to go for it or not.

I live in WA state and I haven't even heard of the Victor E. Vans until now. I only have the cars, which are fun to collect. If the vans are just in relation to sports teams, I don't think I want them either. At least not as a collection with the rest of the Chevron Car series. I'm still hoping that we can get a Fire Truck, and Ambulance or Medic. We have Patty Patrol, why not expand a little on that concept? Breast Cancer cars, keep those coming. How about a race car? Not necessarily NASCAR, unless more of generic over the entire sport. I don't want to see a number of those either. Keep it simple, the less there are, the more of a collector item they are. What about a bride/groom car? Ever think of that? I'm sure that would be a cute gag gift.
- Posted By: Frogger on July 26, 2008
Same car, but different stickers.
- Posted By: Meh on July 25, 2008
I collect the Chevron Cars for my 5 year old grandson. I love them too, but his parents started when he was born and I've kind of taken over. The Victor E. Vans are a cool addition to the collection but I suppose you can't really make one for every pro & college team. We are Seattle Seahawks fans so that would be awesome --- or any of the Washington state large universities.
- Posted By: jon on July 25, 2008
There is a lot of good input that the collectors have stated and I for one do agree. I have managed to collect some of the Victor E. Van cars and acquiring them was very difficult. The whole concept behind being a collector is to have the complete set and this becomes difficult when you can't sell certain ones on the website. Also I do agree there is not much individual character to these cars, just the color and stickers. I am so looking forward to the Breast cancer car and many more.
- Posted By: Bev on July 25, 2008
It's a shame you got away from the Chevron Car concept. It was fun waiting for what would be the next new car. Breast Care cars are a great promotion for a good cause. The only car I do not have is Gold Dusty. I have all the cars in their original boxes unopened, starting with Sam Sedan born May of 1996. With the Victor E. Vans they should be considered a separate line. I have one and they are not worth the trouble in trying to get them. The Lakers car will be given away to my grandson.
- Posted By: Philip on July 23, 2008
Not that much of a fan of the cars. Why not make one then sell a huge book of team stickers....
I want more original, fun cars.
Plenty of cars still need to be made, like a fire truck!
- Posted By: JIm on July 23, 2008
I guess I don't see what the fuss is about. I see the Victor E. Vans as nice cousin cars, but not part of the real collection. Maria is that car, the original. The Victors just spread the love to sports fans and need not be considered part of the collector's collection.
- Posted By: Ralph on July 23, 2008
Who is it for?
- Posted By: Frankie on July 23, 2008
I like the Victor E. Vans, but they are extremely hard to get as The schools involved seem to buy them up immediately.
I still haven't gotten all the current vans.
Suggest a subscription package of all the cars issued each year that would be shipped each December. Make it a lot easier than having to hir small windows on popular cars availability. Other than the missing Victory E Vans and golden disney, I have all the cars issued.
- Posted By: Henry on July 23, 2008
I never considered collecting all the Vans as part of my Chevron Cars Collection. I purchased a couple as gifts and that's it. I agree with several others that it is the individuality of the cars that makes collecting fun. The Vans are cute and make great presents, but are really not a part of the overall collection. I am sure there are enough sports fans to support issuing other of these Vans, but please, don't say they are part of the Cars.
I started collecting because I loved the commercials, so I have all the cars in their original boxes, unopened, stored away. I am not sure what I am going to do with all of them. Probably give them to the first grandchild. Whenever that happens!
- Posted By: aNGEL on July 23, 2008
Is it baseball only? Then I need the Twins!
- Posted By: Shanigram on July 23, 2008
Enough of the Victor E. Vans already! Chevron please stop dealing with sport corporations, all they want is money, this is nothing like the Hope car series. The Hope cars standed for something, it help raise funds for fighting breast cancer. All the Victor E. Vans do is grease the sports corporation's palms!
Chevron, you should be careful, you might be loosing the loyal collectors who been collecting these cars for years, Resulting in a tragic end to the Chevron Cars!
- Posted By: Jimmie on July 23, 2008
My collection has been hit and miss these last few years. But I did enjoy getting the Victor E. Van with the local teams as gifts for the sports fans in my family. Didn't know how to get other teams for those mavericks in the family who support teams beyond our locality. Messages seem to indicate it was a hassle to try to get various teams. Want the Dolphins especially. I can't see them as essential to the collection itself. Seems these should be marketed as an individual item rather than a 'set'. But I am happy you will have a new set - maybe I can get the Dolphins!
- Posted By: Shanigram on July 23, 2008
If more of the Victor E. Vans are produced, I will likely stop attempting to add them to my collection and might decide that it is now time to get rid of the whole collection altogether and reclaim storage space. Really too bad. I first began collecting them because of the commercials and then as a nice item to decorate under the christmas tree in 1996. I never added the Disney cars because they didn't really fit within the character of the other cars. The Victor E. Van cars don't have commercials (that I've seen), are targeted to sports fans (not really one of those either) are not available in all markets and like the Cancer Awareness cars, can be snatched up by people with more buying power and then have their prices jacked up beyond all logical reasoning and resold on auction sites. Cancer charities only receive money on the initial purchase, certainly not on the exorbitant after-market monies received on the secondary auction market!! I still haven't gotten the blue Victor E. Van! I only added them because they were "similar in character to the other cars" but 8 of the same car with the only difference being their color schemes and stickers and the same story and I'd probably consider myself "over" them. That's too bad.
- Posted By: Robin on July 23, 2008
I HAVE THE CHEVRON COLLECTION BUT NOT THE VICTOR E VANS. THERE IS NOT A CHEVRON STATION IN MY AREA THAT WILL CARY THE CARS ANY MORE. I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD PRODUCE SOMETHING THAT US COLLECTORS CAN NOT OBTAIN ON YOUR WEB SITE. NOW MY COLLECTION WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE!
- Posted By: DEBBIE on July 23, 2008
I have every Chevron car that has been released since the beginning EXCEPT for the Victor E Van. I really feel that the release of these vans has ruined my collection. There is no way I can get them all and they all look alike anyway. The charm of Chevron Cars has always been their differences! I would love to get one but which one would it be? Maybe Kentucky blue? I don't know, I just really hate that you released something that every collector cannot get. Thanks for listening. Teresa
- Posted By: Teresa on July 23, 2008
After reading all of the July 22 posts, I have to agree with everybody. Given all the various sports teams out there, this will very quickly get WAY out of control.
So enough already with the
"Detroit" repli-car vans. It's time to move on with new Chevron cars.
Come on advertising department, you can do it.
PS: I also have been collecting the series since they first came out.
- Posted By: Winn on July 23, 2008
Do you know that "Maria Minivan" is Victor E. Van? Just stickers are $10.00!
I still want a few Hope cars and Gold Dusty. Otherwise bring on the new ones I'm waiting.
- Posted By: Peter on July 23, 2008
I have all of the other Chevron cars, but have only purchased one of the Victor E Vans. They all look so similar. My 3 children love playing with the Chevron cars, but would like some new ones. I know many people in the past have suggested a fire truck, or a dump truck, or an airplane. I feel the vans are for a particular audience and small children just like the variety and being able to play with the cars. PLEASE release some NEW models!
- Posted By: JUDY on July 22, 2008
I don't want a ton of vans in my collection of one of a kind cars. Lets move on.
- Posted By: Anonymous on July 22, 2008
I like the concept of the vans, but what I would really like to see is a line of NBA teams. One in particular is the Utah Jazz.
- Posted By: Jere on July 22, 2008
I would have to agree with all the others that the Victor E. Vans are repetitious and difficult to find. I bought all the original 41 cars and the 3 se ones for my son, and feel that those are all on their own, not quite part of the originals. To me they seem more for the sports fan of that particular team-nothing wrong with that, but if that is all that is going to be produced from now on I guess my sons collection of Chevron cars is complete because this will not be part of his collection-just too expensive and hard to find...
- Posted By: Armando on July 22, 2008
I'm with you JonW! Keep them out of the collection all together! Not having the Gold Dusty is one thing but it was a bad call by Chevron marketing to introduce these especially in targeted markets where we have to find them on EBAY. I will simply stop collecting and use the entrance of the Victory Vans as the end of my happiness as a collector to all who ask.
- Posted By: AlanR on July 22, 2008
The van series almost makes me want to stop collecting the Chevron cars. They are too difficult to purchase, and being the same except for stickers, makes me lose most interest in collecting the cars. The cars should be available for direct purchase at least for a period of time. I have all the cars except the Gold Dusty and of course only a couple of vans.
The Chevron Cars are purchased by adults for themselves or for the kids, and without the interest a lot of people will quit collecting.
- Posted By: Jon W on July 22, 2008
I am one of those who lost interest when you only sold the V Vans at specific locations.
I have no time to try to get a hold of them, I was collecting them for my 9 grandchildren, and the girls and the boys loved the cars.
I have everyone except the Gold Dusty one, and now I don't have some Vans due to your policy of trying to locate them throughout So Ca.
So........now that my collection has been broken, it is no more fun to order them.
Who in the world has time or money (gas) to try to buy them. I have yet to find the Nevada one, and also, the names you list on the site as Chevron dealers do not necessarily order them, as I found out.
I will try to order whatever you have on site, but I no longer will have a complete collection thanks to your contractual policy. Until now, I was a happy camper. Even buying a bookcase/shelves for the cars.
- Posted By: Reine on July 22, 2008
I was a little disappointed in the Victor E Van. It seemed that there was no originality with more than one choice. It wasn't unique like all the others. Hope there are rescue trucks and fire engines in the future. Hard to have a complete town with out those. My mat is number of years old and still being used by grand children!
- Posted By: Nana on July 22, 2008
I do have all the the cars but the Gold Dusty. As far as the Victor e Vans, I do have all of them, they cost me a fortune on e-bay, but was able to get them. It doesn't make much sense to have 8 of the same van, no matter what team is on it. I probably won't buy the next set! I'd like to see some new cars come out but make them easier to get. And for the gold dusty you should make some and release them, on e-bay the last one went for 1550.00. But for those of you looking for V.E. Vans they're on e-bay. Thanks.
- Posted By: porky on July 22, 2008
STOP WITH THE VICTOR E VANS ALREADY. I HAVE 3 AND I DON'T WANT ANYMORE OF THE SAME CAR. THEY ARE ALREADY BORING AND ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. THE ONLY CAR I'M MISSING IS THE ICON CAR AND I'M ONLY MISSING THAT BECAUSE I CAN'T GET IT IN AN ORIGINAL BOX LIKE ALL MY OTHERS. I WANT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT THE NEXT CAR COMING OUT AND NOT HAVE TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON THE SAME OLD THING IN DIFFERENT COLORS.
- Posted By: APRILDAWN on July 22, 2008
I was disappointed because I did not learn about the vans until after the fact. They were not well publicized and my emails on the Chevron cars are received in my non- junk email box. I tried to find them on ebay and the like. Many were unavailable or overpriced. I have decided the vans will not be part of my collection and I have every other car. I see I am not alone in this sentiment.
[Thank-you. We will take special care to inform people more proactively when the new set of Victor E. Vans becomes available in the fall.]
- Posted By: Kirk on July 22, 2008
I don't like the Victor Van Series, Its just the same thing over and over and over and over again! No creativity. Who cares if you get a sticker. I've been buying these cars for years for my grandchildren, but they all have the vans, and want something new. It seem like you've taken a lesson from Detroit, run with the models for several years, and save money. Not very interesting anymore. Losing interest in Chevron cars.
- Posted By: Mike on July 22, 2008
I am also an older collector (64).
I have every one of the Chevron cars that you have made including all of the Victor E. Vans. I do NOT consider the Victor E. Vans as part of my collection. I would of preferred you NOT even making them. Just keep up making the one or two a year of the regular ones. Thank You. I do have an extra L.A. Lakers Van

Stop the Victor E Vans. The
addition of decals to a same body
is destroying my interest in the
collection I have maintained from
the beginning.
- Posted By: Grady on July 22, 2008
I DON'T LIKE THE VICTOR E. VANS SERIES. IT IS JUST THE SAME CAR OVER AND OVER WITH THE SAME NAME ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE COLOR. I DON'T REALLY CONSIDER THEM A COLLECTIBLE ITEM. THEY SHOULD BE EASIER TO OBTAIN AS WELL.
- Posted By: Bubba on July 22, 2008
As a collector I am disappointed with the availability of the Victor E Vans. I have only been able to obtain the UNLV van. My Chevron cars are frowning and feel incomplete without their new friends who can not be found!!

I have found that many of my customers (friends & family too) LOVE the Victor E. Vans! They are just as popular, if not more, than some of the others (the Breast Cancer cars are also very popular). I have many customers requesting their teams & wanting to find out when more will be available. So, please continue to make these available if possible.
My special request : ASU (Arizona State University)...I have at least 10 that I'd like to purchase.
Thank you!

I am probably one of the oldest collectors both in age and in time collecting these great cars. I have to agree with Richie's post of July 19th. I was able to buy 3 of the Victor E. Vans and only because I had family in other parts of the country. It's the same van and I also do not consider it as part of the collection and I doubt if I will take the effort to find the remaining ones. If you put the stickers on the van it will lose its value as a collector's item. I am from the Dallas area having moved here from San Diego and would look for a local van only for its own value and not part of my complete collection. I don't think these vans fit into a serious Collection of the Chevron Cars. You need to get back to the basic one car concept that can be a real part of the collection. I will always be looking for the true REAL car in the future. If no other REAL cars are to be made then the Collection should come to an end. This would greatly enhance the value and time spent into collecting these great cars. Once the true Collection has ended, then the Victor E. Vans will have a place of their own.
- Posted By: Jim on July 22, 2008
I am beginning to not favor the Victor E. Vans. These series of cars are taking the fun of having Chevron Toy Cars away. It was better when every six months or so you would surprise us with a new car. Now we have to struggle to keep a whole collection. Too Much HYPE!!!
- Posted By: Lester on July 22, 2008
Did Chevron Corp get bought out by the Ty Corp? These are becoming like Beanie Babies - Ty played games to make certain ones hard to get to "increase their value". I don't like it. If the teams sold them on their websites it would be better, since we can't afford to travel all around the country just to collect the cars. So now I have missing cars in my collection. Thanks.
- Posted By: Chris on July 22, 2008
I have been an avid collector of Chevron Cars and always got an E-mail about new cars but I never received notice about any of the Victory Vans and when I found them on the site they were all gone. I have a complete set of Chevron cars, except for the vans. I am not a kid so I don't have someone buying these cars for me. I have always relied on the E-mails to let me know when a new car comes out. I have a glass display in my restaurant, and someone asked me why I didn't have the Victory Vans. This is when I found out I was missing something.
[Note - all Victor E. Vans available on Chevroncars.com were announced in the email and will be in the future, but spam filters often prevent emails from getting to recipients. To ensure that you do get the newsletter, make sure FromChevronCars@chevroncars.com is part of your approved email sender or white list.]

If the are conflicts with contracts, then, don't make the cars. These cars are for the kids in all of us. This makes it very hard for us kids who want the cars. Quit making it so hard for us to enjoy collecting the cars, or you will find a lot less people collecting them, namely the kids that support this program. Who woud buy all of the cars other than the team fans?
- Posted By: Austin on July 22, 2008
I love the Victor E. Vans. I wish I had got one of the USC vans when I saw it. I would like to see UC Davis and/or Sacramento Rivercats as one of the Vans some time in the future. I think all the cars make great collectables and gifts for special occasions.
- Posted By: James on July 22, 2008
I don't care for the Victor E. Vans either. As someone already said, they are the same van just different colors and with the very few cars released by Chevron each year I'd rather have something else than three of the same van in different colors.
