An Almost Unbelievable Chevron Cars Collection

New Blog DesignThere are Chevron Cars collections, and then there are Chevron Cars collections. Jim in Vacaville, California must have one of the most impressive collections we have ever seen. Not only does he have every Chevron Car - including the notorious Gold Dusty! - Jim has built a special cabinet for displaying them. (Click on any image for a larger view.)

New Blog DesignEach car is in the original plastic packaging - except Gold Dusty of course, which is in its blue velvet sleeve. Writes Jim: "The icon car is the only one I can actually 'play' with but do have its case."

New Blog DesignHe continues: "Thanks for making such a great quality, fun product. I'm looking forward to the next Chevron Car." So are we Jim! Thanks so much for sharing this with fellow collectors and Chevron Cars fans.

We hope that you have room on your shelves for more cars . . ..

Revised Flags of the World Game

New Blog DesignOne of the most exciting games on Chevroncars.com is Flags of the World. It is time based, so the quicker you identify a flag, the more points you get. This can make for some dramatic moments.

Since we launched the game for the 2004 Olympics, there have been a number of changes on our planet. New countries have been born - do you know where Akrotira is? Others have received international recognition and their own flags like Montenegro and Kosovo. Then there are odd new states with flags, like the United States Pacific Island Wildlife Refuge. It has no capital and restricts entry to scientists.

Our updated Flags of the World game includes 9 new and other revised entries. Check it out - and see how much you really know about the 267 countries around the world!

New Nando vs Saguaro Game

Nando Maze GameWe've just added a new and improved version of one of our most popular games on the website -- Nando vs Saguaro. This challenging maze game tests your memory, agility, and speed as you guide Nando through a maze. But watch out! As you drive Nando through the maze the Saguaro cactus will be chasing you at every turn. Your objective is to guide Nando through the maze and collect a series of objects while avoiding the Saguaro cactus. If he catches you before you've collected all the hidden objects you'll get a flat tire. Once you gather all the objects you must find and banish the Saguaro cactus and then find the bridge that will take you to the next level.

Every maze is different, and as you get to a new level the game becomes more challenging and exciting. You only have a limited number of spare tires, so you must be quick and careful and as you guide Nando through the maze. Your goal is to complete the game in the shortest amount of time.

Are you ready to play? Do you think you might make it to the high scoreboard? Test your skills today on the new Nando vs Saguaro game and try to get the best time! Let us know what you think of this new version of this popular game. And stay tuned -- more new and existing games will be available soon.

Not Chevron Cars, but . . .

Chevron TrucksWe are often asked about the Chevron trucks shown here in an image sent in by Jake, who recently received these "beautiful model trucks" as a gift. He writes that "on the undercarriage of each model, it says 'Exclusively for Chevron.' These models are made in England by the Lledo Toy Company."

You have it correctly, Jake. These intricate model trucks were made between 1990 and 1993, and are a few inches long. Lledo was a company founded by Jack Odell, and bore his name spelled backwards. Odell was a partner in the firm that made the famous Matchbox die-cast metal cars many readers may remember. When he left the firm in 1982, he started Lledo with a number of former Matchbox alums. No wonder these are such wonderful objects.

The black car in the middle is a replica of a 1920 Red Crown Gasoline Ford Model T Tank Truck. Imagine, a Ford Model T as a gasoline delivery truck! What would Travis Tanker say?

On the right is a red 1936 Packard Standard Announcer car. The green car on the left seems to be the 1939 Chevy RPM Pickup.

Thanks Ajke for sending this in and reminding us of the great tradition of oil-related vehicles going back almost a century.

Two Neat Astronomy Articles

Stephans QuintetWe recently posted two exciting astronomy-related articles in the Learn section of Chevron Cars. So much is going on in that field, it is hard to keep up!

One article is about a binary black hole system seen by NASA's orbiting Chandra X-ray observatory. The two black holes are rotating around each other at incredible speeds, spewing vasts amount of gas into space. The picture of this interaction is incredible, as is the fact that we are even able to understand what is going on.

A second article asks if there is life elsewhere in the universe. Also studded with wonderful images, like the one shown here of Stephan's Quintet, a set of five colliding galaxies, the article discusses the SETI project and how anyone might get involved in the search for extraterrestial life. Believe it or not, we can all play a part with our computers!

License to Fly

Daniel's DrawingOne of the most popular games on our webiste over the past decade has been License to Fly. It really is a unique game, unlike anything else out there. It was made specifically for Cary Carrier and the Babies. It takes a great deal of skill to send the baby cars flying up into Cary's waiting arms, eh decks. Sometime it works, sometimes they need a parachute.

The earlier game had three levels and was made in Shockwave. We rebuilt it in Flash, making the game easily re-sizeable, and added a fourth level. We kept much of the original look but made the graphics slicker and more modern. So far the response has been great.

Do try the new version of License to Fly on our Games page. Do let us know what you think and have a great time playing!
